Who started Special Needs Library?
A group of parents who had varied needs got together in space provided by a local children’s hospital to discuss the needs of parents in the Greater Houston Community.  It was obvious to all of us that each held a wealth of information after a number of years in dealing with issues, but, struggled each time we faced something new.  While disease specific web-websites were helpful, they did not necessarily provide the full spectrum, state specific information that we needed to apply for funding, find a computer, seek a music therapist, or, get assistance with transportation.  We determined that a web-platform might be the best way to begin.  

Who are these parents?
There is no magic to the selection of the group of parents who began the website.   A local children’s hospital helped to collect active parents who had children with neurological conditions, cancer, heart disease, PDD, autism, CF, and a variety of other conditions where parents struggled with similar issues—how do I help my child and myself.  You can easily become one of these parents in one of two ways:  help us update the website and keep it updated or volunteer to serve as a moderator on the website to insure that it is used and updated.  We ask that you forward this website to your friends so that we can make it a useful resource for years to come.  
The website is privately funded by these parents and has no dollars from companies at this time.  Depending on the evolution and usefulness of the website, we will change over time.
