 Parents of children with special needs know how difficult it is to find the time to locate the most appropriate resources for their family, whether it’s financial aid information, specialized and donated products, therapies, advocates and lawyers to help with the public education system, recreational activities, or other needs for their family. That is why most of us have turned to our informal networks of friends and caregivers to get this information. One group of families decided that it would be much better to expand this network through the Internet, and this website is the result. The RESOURCES section of this web-site is the heart and soul of this site and provides links to much information on benefits, schools, products such as carseats and wheelchairs, services such as special needs lawyers, camps and horseback riding, organizations focused on specific diseases or conditions, and service providers such as occupational and speech therapists. Other sections of the website include DISCUSSION BOARDS, organized into a small number of topics so that it does not become hard to use, CLASSIFIEDS, to allow for parents to pass along gently used products that are no longer needed by their family and could help another family in need, and a COMMUNITY CALENDAR, allowing event organizers to let parents know about informational and recreational opportunities, and LINKS TO STORIES about children with special needs.
